Position: River Operations Assistant

Location: 3734 King Street East, Kitchener ON

Canoeing the Grand is a customer focused team that has been proud to service the surrounding area since 1991. We rent a variety of canoes, kayaks, tubes and river rafts from May to November with drop-offs at various locations along the Grand River. Our team members are passionate about the outdoors and everything the Grand River has to offer.

Job Description

River Operations Assistants are a vital role to our operation. They assist with almost every aspect of the customer experience. This position has a lifting and carrying requirement of boats (minimum 70lbs).

Responsibilities include:

- start of day preparing of equipment – canoes/lifejackets/safety kits/paddles 

- checking in customers at customer reception 

- handing out safety equipment to customers 

- help maintain flow of traffic in the parking lot

- carry canoes and kayaks overhead (weighing minimum 70 pounds)

- transport boats throughout the day from storage to trailers and river edge to trailers 

- loading and securely strapping boats to the transportation trailers 

- cleaning boats and all equipment used by customers (lifejackets, paddles)

- cleaning vans and maintaining trailers 

- other general duties as assigned 

The River Ops Assistant will often assist large groups on their trips which includes joining drivers to the drop-off site, providing safety information to the groups, unloading boats at the drop off point and sending customers off on their trips.
